I can almost Guarantee you will love Planet Terror.
Yes, it was paired with another movie "Death Proof" which was part of a double feature called "Grindhouse." It was made to simulate a drive in movie experience. The movie melts in the middle of Planet Terror (just like it used to at the drive in) and you miss a few minutes of it.:grinning:
Get the stand alone dvd of Planet Terror. The Grindhouse version is edited so they could keep the double feature at 3 hours. The stand alone version is about 30 minutes longer.
I watched Thor. I didn't really like it. It was technically okay, but it just wasn't for me. A little too silly.
The Vow - Hallmark Channel stuff
Ghost Rider 2 - not as bad as you might have been led to believe
I just watched Final Destination 5...finally.
Who else watched it? What did you think?
Last night I saw The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Absolutely knocked my socks off. I love a proper heroine. Refuses to be a victim, yet has a soft spot. I saw The Woman in Black last weekend and loved the atmosphere. I am very familiar with the story having read the book and seen it done on the stage twice. Daniel Radcliffe did seem to be struggling in a few places, but did an admirable job overall. Also got Midnight in Paris on DVD. I am not a great lover of rom coms or Woody Allen, but I do like Owen Wilson. Really enjoyed the film.Loved the mood and the message and all the Paris locations. Did not like Tinker,Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Just not my cup of tea. Told my husband that the next time I have trouble sleeping he can put that snooze fest on.
Finally sat down and watched "No Country for Old Men" the other night. Thought it was a great movie, best villian I've seen in a while.
The blu-ray of The Cider House Rules
I just finished a re-read of this great novel and decided to watch the movie immediately after I finished the novel. John Irving wrote the screenplay and did a marvelous job of hacking up his large novel to make a 2 hour movie. Irving had to get rid of several story lines but managed to keep spirit of the novel. The entire cast was great but Michael Caine as Dr Larch and Delroy Lindo as Mr. Rose were so good, that I can't read the novel without picturing those actors.
There is a "making of" featurette on the blu-ray that includes some interviews with SK discussing John Irving.
