Saw the new Robin Hood (with Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett) the other evening. This movie was awesome.
Watched a documentary called "Pressure Cooker" which was quite good -- about a culinary arts class in an inner-city Philadelphia high school, and "Whip It" with Ellen Page. Not the best movie ever. Worth the rental on DVD, but I think I might have been disappointed to pay theatre prices for it.
The Fighter...great movie based on true story. Be prepared to hear the F-bomb about a million times. I really think some awards will be won with this film.
Step Up 3 - yes, really. Some good dance scenes.
I watched Green mile on tv the other day, I've wached it a few times before but it's still amazing! Some movies you can't get tired of, and that's one of them!
Saw the new version of True Grit.....loved it as did the kids. I was quite disturbed that they would try and remake a John Wayne movie, but they did an awesome job and Matt Damon was bit of an improvement over Glenn Campbell.....sorry Rhinestone Cowboy.
Here's a short list of R-rated comedies I've recently watched. They were actually good
Step Brothers
Semi-Pro
Road Trip
Gulliver's Travels - less awful than I expected. Suprisingly, Jack Black isn't the worst thing in it - Emily Blunt is awful.
Love And Other Drugs - NOT a comedy, although often quite funny. I enjoyed it, although not convinced by the ending. I hope Anne Hathaway makes more movies like this, call me selfish, I don't care.
The Next Three Days - tolerable thriller, although I preferred the French original.
The Way Back - impressive, but a bit impersonal - we needed to get to know them all a lot quicker.
Down. This movie was way better than I expected. In fact, I really loved it. But I guess after watching this movie, it's not soon I'm using an elevator again :)
