Just a minor one: any chance of putting Pet Sematary's Ludlow on the map?

I know this is probably lame, but I was thinking it would be pretty cool if there were somethinglike mouse holes or spider webs or the like that you could go into and get special little Stephen King tidbits. I think it would be super cool to go into a mouse hole and be transported to a room in the Dark Tower that we could look around in. Lame but I would like it.:glare:

That is a possibility in the next couple phases of the map. We'll be working to expand the map well beyond Maine and make it easier to navigate.

I recently reread the notes in the Everything's Eventual collection and wondered if The Road Virus could be put somewhere in there... Dunno if Steve still has that painting

Hmm...for someone who doesn't intend to post much, I'm an absolute chatterbox. Oh well. I really wanted something scary to happen when the sh**-weasel attacked me. I loved that I turned around and it pounced (especially since when I 'caught' it, all that happened was "ya got me"), but then, it just chomped me and we both went on our merry ways. I want to be dragged into an animation of the outside of an outhouse, the person inside cussing up a storm (all in proper inter-net-speak of course) and then see the door burst open and the sh**-weasel come flying out.

I don't know if this was a suggestion made before: It would be a much better (and easier) if the answers of future phases of The Office quiz game were multiple choice format. :smile2: If the answers were multiple choice format, there would be no trouble with getting the wording just right.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5We're not going to make the questions multiple choice.

How about another map: Stephen King's America? You show America and have little tacks for the fictional and actual cities in SK stories
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506)This is on the "To Do" list.

I really like Stephen King's map of Maine. Have you considered creating a time line of his stories for the most popular locations? I've been reading a lot of King's books lately and have noticed that quite a few stories take place in Derry and quite a few in Castle Rock. I would be interested in seeing a when the stories took place in relation to each other.

I'd love it if the TV came on, either when I clicked something or, more creepy, all by itself, and showed either trailers for those King films mentioned in the posters or a slide show of covers etc. I'm also with the person who wants the phone to "work". Oh - and the typewriter ought to start rattatatting along........ umm I'll shut up now.

We posted an update on The Office in the social group last month. We are currently working on a large scale Dark Tower flash project that will be released this summer. Once that rather large project is off our table, we can go back to The Office and finish what we started.

Really, if you liked The Office, the DT project will blow your sock off. Sorry for the delay. I think it will be worth it. :smile2:

Hello - The map look fantastic, but one thing had always bothered me. It seems that Jerusalem"s Lot is in the wrong place on your map, and not just by a little - way off. My recollection is that it not far from Cumberland. The map would seem to have it up in the "TR". Am I crazy here?

I noticed the empty shelves and boxes marked books.
When those are "Unpacked", I'm hoping it's similar to a virtual bookshelf, and will we be able to click on any of the books, which will then be shown in closeup. It'd make hunting down first editions much easier, because then us collectors would be able to use it as a visual reference.
And can we hope for a gallery of Stephen King's least favorite book covers (like the Hodder and Stoughton hardcover of IT)?

But seriously, my thing is the navigation is a little counter-intuitive. As far as a suggestion for new content, I think some way to maybe be lead to a personal selling house (I don't know if Steve has a vehicle to sell his books from here in any way or can do this legally) for the books or to a site Steve approves to buy the ones you may not have would be nice. An events calendar maybe? Detailing Steve's scheduled appearances, releases, etc. Also maybe being able to go "outside" and get chased back in by Jack Torrence or Cujo or something, just as pure novelty would be cool too. Maybe if you go in certain places "things" get you and you die and have to go back to the lobby. This feature you could also make it monsters from different stories. You could also make it a "trivia" item where you have to identify the creature that just killed you.

I am just throwing monkey poop at the wall here...

Was feeling a little cheeky the day I answered, I think. :smile2: Although the throwing monkey poop idea could come in handy at times. We are currently working on Phase 2 of The Office and the navigation will be greatly enhanced so that it will feel much more like a walk through. We've have a lot of ideas for additions and extra features including one that will tie into the weather in Bangor so you will see the seasons, day/night IRT. Selling books is not something that will happen, though, as he prefers to leave the selling to those who are in the business to do it and we don't have the staff to handle shipping them out. We do have an events calendar on the site already but I admit I haven't made as good use of it as I could--haven't formed that habit yet. Thanks (seriously) for all the suggestions. :smile2:

Well, I also noticed that was most likely in response to you wearing a VR suit and being remote controlled. Which is still a FABULOUS idea, no?

In regards to the book sales idea, it was more maybe a link out to a site Steve likes or approves of, though I admit a lack of understanding of the publishing/distribution business. Maybe logistics/legalities, etc? In my mind I imagined a book case with all the works there. You can click on one and it opens or whatever, provides a synopsis, then a link to go somewhere else to buy would be provided. Might be able to generate ad revenue. Also for newbies to Steve's entire body of work, it might be a good way to get them interested in and increase the sales of older works. In the same regard, something for the movies might be nice also.

We've intentionally never done that sort of thing because there's no way to do it without ticking off all the other booksellers who don't get mentioned.

I definitely like the idea of clicking on the books on the shelves and getting a synopsis and different cover arts, etc. Also the TV showing trailers for the movies, or even more book trailers, like the one for Dome. More interactivity with the map definitely, like click on the town dots and it'll show you which stories take place in the town, and maybe even like someone already said, maps of the towns themselves. Wasn't there a map of Derry in one of the books? I can't remember. Can't wait 'til the upgrade is done!

I have a couple of ideas in the improvement to THE OFFICE:

* Have a doorway that, when entered, it leads into an alternate universe, where characters from the books are existant. like a world of fantasy almost
* On the map, have a clickable buttons allowing the person to enter that town and answer questions and such
* PENNYWISE LIVES! statue

that is all

I think they should have Steve sitting at his desk. And maybe instead of just Movie posters they should have a room that have a screen with the previews playing and the posters on the walls. Plus we would love to see Marsha walkin' around

We ran into a problem with getting permissions from some of the studios to run trailers (they either wanted a lot of money or we would have had to request written permission from every person involved with a particular scene) so abandoned that idea early on in the development. The TV in Steve's office does have a video which Scribner has provided. Jordan will probably scream but maybe we can also display the videos Hodder did for FDNS on there as well as in the Multimedia section so that they would randomly rotate so you don't see the same one each time.

This is actually part of the Office 2.0 plans. However, the Office project has been permanently "back-burnered" for the coming years as we deal with Dark Tower / Discordia content and promotions. When and if we do return to the office, this will be part of the new environment for sure.

Marsha's right, the video clips in the new office theater will not be clips of movies. Only new videos such as commercials for books and the like.

Not at the moment. That project is so far on the back burner that it's gotten cold.

Sad cause it's so cool and you don't have to be a master of the books like in Discordia

Speaking of Discordia, I played it and got all items and made it to the tunnel door. THEN I got distracted by rereading DZ group and wondered if the next part is ready yet? At the time I reached the door it wasnt ready to proceed...I made notes of the entry word but cant seem to find it now. Could someone help please? Thanks so much!

Hi, is this what Stephen King's office really looks likes? Where he's written such titles as Under The Dome, Duma Key, and many more books prior?

He does his writing at his home offices. The one in The Office is a pretty good reproduction of his business office in Bangor, Maine.

Wondering when the next part of the office is going to be up and running?

It will be a while. Brian was working on the second phase when the news of the Dark Tower movie project came out so we thought it better to switch gears and return to finish up Discordia instead. That's what he's working on now.

Would be nice to have a pic up here of SK's home office, nice to see where he does his writing. There's one on the net but it's from the eighties.

He has three of them, but his private residences are off-limits for photos for the most part which is why we don't post them.

Why three?

He spends part of the year at each of his three residences--two in Maine and one in Florida.

A tropical fish tank with mood/moon lighting. It could be light during day, but lower to moon effect lighting during the evening.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

On the map, shouldn't Haven be more down near the bay instead of being inland so far? Also, is there a tentative release date for the second phase?

wow i got stuck on the three residences! Most cant even afford one...tho most of them wouldnt admit it at all! I'm glad Stephen has been on the other side the financial fence. That makes him more human-more real somehow. Knowing he has lived a similar life, I feel a connection with his stories & when he describes a person living more affluently, I 'believe' him. When he describes a homeless person, i can believe that too. because he's probably been there-done that...or something quite similar! I am more likely to believe SK than i am just about any other writer.

Yes, Steve writes (speaks) the truth, doesn't he? That's what makes him so great. ('Bout the only time I didn't 'believe' him was while reading Insomnia and that Ralph Roberts listened to 90's rock. That just didn't gel with me.)

I think it'd be cool if there was a closet in Steve's office and the door swung open when you entered revealing The Boogeyman holding his Dr. Harper mask which could be Steve's face.

It's on the back burner but would have to be completely redone because we have moved since it was first launched.
