W00T! I just found a Bookland, that sells used books! I thought those went extinct in this state! Bookland went belly up in my hometown in the early 90's, I think it was. I was real happy to see the Bookland awning. Borders books and music is great, but no used books.
But anyways, I grabbed a used copy of Nightmares & Dreamscapes for $3.80 after taxes. I didn't have any books on me, so it really made my day. I haven't read this collection yet either, and I've avoided all but one of the Nightmares & Dreamscapes TV series so far, because I refuse to watch something before I read the story if at all possible. Well, especially where King is concerned.
Anyways, what's the latest Stephen King related purchase you've made? Books, DVDs, magazines, comics... a T-shirt with his picture on it... anything! Whatever the most recent SK purchase you've made is...
Whadja get?

Duma Key for me I paid just under £10 for it (about $20) in ASDA part of the Wal Mart group. I buy all of his books in HB these days as soon as they come out. I have most of his books I think. The early stuff I bought second hand cos didn't have a lot of cash in those days but I am gradually replacing them.

I've recently gotten back into Stephen King, and pretty hardcore I might add. This past week I purchased dvd's of The Graveyard Shift and The Mist. Within the past two weeks I picked up paperbacks of From a Buick 8, The Stand (Which I'm reading now), The Dead Zone, It, and Salems Lot.

I just purchased DUMA KEY a few weeks ago from Barnes and Noble and they or somebody put an RFID tracking device right onto the opening fly sheet paper of this wonderful book.
I was going to try to find exactly that same book Reesespieces but I got sidetracked by DUMA KEY which has been a fantastic read from this old SK lover of his works.
I'll be finding it this week when I go back into our big city again. or rather, big town.

I pulled my hat down low, put on my dark glasses and ventured into Walmart:oo: last week
(I'm not a fan of Walmart) for a prescription refill. While I was waiting I browsed the book section. I couldn't resist Duma Key HB for $16.95. After waiting 20 minutes in the checkout line behind screaming William, age 2, and in front of Mrs. Run her Buggy into my Ankles I was ready to drop it and run. But hey I'm a fan right and this was going to save me 3 bucks! Finally I make my way to the cash register and the total comes to $21.34. "What happened to $16.95 that is printed on the cover?" I ask the teenage cashier with a safety pin in his nose and more metal in his mouth than I had when I had braces. He very sweetly and patiently explained that I now had to go to Customer Service for price discrepancies. There I stand in another line, at least in this one I was entertained by a man who was arguing with security about someone who was stalking him in the store. Reaching the counter I received my $3 refund from a smiling Asian woman who spoke no English. 45 mins later I walk out with my very own hardback Duma Key. I'm either a dedicated fan with the patience of a saint or a nutball with too much time on my hands that day. I can't wait for the first bite as soon as the time is right to start it!!:biggrin2:

Good story, Gwen, and you've a marvellous novel in front of you. Woo Hoo.
And Book, I recently re-read The Talisman the Black House back-to-back which added to the enjoyment of both IMO.

I heard about the pop-up for "The Girl who loved Tom Gordon", and immediately rushed out to Barnes & Noble to find it. No luck. So I drove to Borders. No again. None of the used book stores around had one either. By this point, it is a quest. I MUST find this book. :grr:
So I went to Amazon, and purchased a new copy from one of their approved sellers. Didn't pay shipping, because I found some other stuff I couldn't live without. So the purchase price for the book was $ 2.80, with a expected ship time of 14 days. So two weeks pass, nothing. I wait another week, still nothing. So I email the seller, and get no response. After 21 business days, I email Amazon, and tell them I am unable to reach the seller and have not received my books. No response.:mad2:
I was at the point of total depression, having wasted all two dollars and a couple of minutes of time, when what's this? An email from the seller- they had sold the book to someone else, but went out and bought another copy which they would then send to me. I was so flippin happy just to hear something I didn't even think of chewing them out.
So 7 weeks after my initial order, I finally receive the book. And I am very impressed. It was definitely worth the wait. It is by far the best pop-up I have ever seen. Even my husband (who is literate, but grudgingly) thought it was awesome. So it is now on my top shelf, one of my little victories. :D

I agree! A couple of months ago it was on the news that one of the main reasons why people don't read or don't read as much as they used to is because books are too expensive. When I buy a new book (hardcover) I pay 30 euros or more. Even paperbacks are expensive!

I recieved the pop-up book for christmas. My sister gave it to me, anyways, she found it in the childrens section at our local barnes and nobles. Dont ask me why, but that is where they had them!:dunno: so for others who might be looking for it, you might want to try the childrens section.
My last purchase was "The Gingerbread Girl".

Hi,
About pre-ordering JAS (nice acronym, and all that JAS - 'Showtime', LOL).
When Duma Key was published in the UK there was a really cool keyring given away but you had to ask for it. As I didn't know about it's existence, I didn't know to ask for it, and when I discovered and returned to Waterstones they were unfortunately out of stock (boo).
I wonder if there are any promotional giveaways planned for JAS, and if details of any could be please put on the main site, so we know to make sure we get them?
I realise that this would be difficult, as they would no doubt differ from the US to the UK, and possibly between book chains as well.
Thankee big-big if this could be done, Ms Mod..

A couple of months ago I walked into a very small used book store and found something I've never seen or heard of before. It's a book called Dark Visions. 'An impressive showcase from three masters of the macabre' is what it says on the front. It's stories by a George R.R. Martin, Dan Simmons and....... Stephen King. There are 3 stories by SK - The Reploids, Sneakers & Dedication. I haven't read them yet (shame on me!) but I'll be sure to get back to you all in the What Are You Reading thread when I have.
Have any of you heard of this? If so, have you read them and what did you think? No spoilers please!

admittedly probably inappropriate;however, my 4 year old lost his copy of Cycle of the Werewolf when we went camping. I had to go on-line and purchase a new copy, along with the movie Silver Bullet. I forgot how freaking gory that movie was. Long story short, found my copy and now he have a new copy of Cycle of the Werewolf.
For those who worry about the content as I am reading, I try to "edit" out the parts that are a little less palatable. Kind of like closing the barn door after the horse is out considering he now watches the movie. Oh well, my bad. I tend to be very open and honest with my son. Have a great evening

Sorry, I’m a little behind… It takes a time to get his books here, plus $$$ situation is… I bought The Colorado Kid. Next one will be Lisey’s story which I’m very very anxious to read. Last movie was The Mist. Nope, last one was Secret Window, which I liked a lot and plan to sit my mother in front of the TV to watch it (I’m slowly trying to take her to the King side of the world). :D

I think I got three SK novels at once less than a month ago. I think they were The Talisman, Black House, and Gerald's Game. I haven't read them yet because I'm finishing up Duma Key...which is frickin' awesome btw.
Hmmm...I think that 1408 was the last SK movie I got. That was way back in December, though. Man, I need to get some more movies...

This is repetitive, but I purchased Faithful, DT 6 & 7, and The Talisman from audible.com.
I would also very much so like to see other books available there. I always loved SK's versions of DT 1-3/4, can't remember how many he did and obviously I would buy "It" and "The Stand" in a second.
Is SK's relationship with audible amicable?

Hi,
I understand your feelings about the baseball aspect, but much of Faithful is really a great peek into the everyday life of Sai King (and his bits are printed in bold type, so you can skip much of the baseball if you want).
But then, I love real country music too!

Hi,
If it's the first edition stand alone publication then it really is 'Mission Financially Unfeasible', but if it's just the story you want to read then it was published in the Bachman books for many years (though not in the current edition!) and should be easily available from E-bay or Amazon.
