The Stand. It's a great story full of well written characters. Every time I re read it I feel like I am visiting with old friends.

It for me too, because of the relationship between the characters when they were kids. Probably why I love the film Stand By Me, I just love the way childhood friendships are depicted by King.

It's not a single novel, but rather a journey of novels which become one-- The Dark Tower series.

Pet Sematary will always be my favorite. Closely followed by Salem's Lot and The Shining

Man, it is HARD to pick just one. I would say its between IT, Duma Key and Bag of Bones. But I love so many of them! It's like trying to pick your favorite child! :dunno:

Exactly...It isn't a horror story to me,far from it.It's a story about friendship and the magic of been a pre teenage child. And so beautifully wrote, the only book I've ever read 3 times

That really is a tough one. Love the DT series, but Wizard and Glass would be my favorite of those, closely followed by Drawing of the Three. Also love Eyes of the Dragon and Bag of Bones. The Stand is pretty awesome too. And the Long Walk. And Duma Key. Quitters, Inc. is one of my favorite shorts. Nope, can't do it. Can't pick just one.

I'm going to be the only person who says Gerald's Game aren't I?

I love The Stand for all the reasons already mentioned, but also because it was the first time I got so into a book I completly lost the real world for a while.

Doesn't seem to be a popular one but for me its dreamcatcher. Similar to IT its an extraordinary tale of friendship and i have never been so moved by the finale of a story.

IT, stand, under the dome and firestarter all make my shortlist too

IT is my all time favorite SK novel. I loved the nostalgia factor of the parts of the story set in 1958 and how SK can make that era seem to live and breathe. And I loved the story of friendship between the characters when they were kids. I don't think anyone writes about that pre-adolescent child character as well as King. IT is just a fantastic book all around, full of great characters and scares.

Easy, The Gunslinger. If the Gunslinger had not followed the Man in Black as he fled across the desert; I know not what would have become of my life.

I am going with The Dark Tower series, as a whole. In the world of literature there is just nothing like it. The DT series is a body of work that ties together an entire author's body of work. It's sci fi... horror... a love story.... fantasy...

Man, wow, hard question...I'd probably say IT because I love the way it tells two stories in one i.e. The characters as kids and the charcters as adults. I like books that flashback, and IT is the kind of such books. Memories are usually worth holding on to. Plus, it is just a freakishly awesome book!
