Reading the casting news...

So far...

Dodee is a communications specialist trying to communicate with the outside world? From the Pantry?

Phil is a Indy Rock DJ with a secret? Indy rock? Will they disregard the entire "religious right" aspect of the story??? That would be a shame.

the guy playing Jr. looks like a member of One Direction.

All this is giving me the "Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher" vibe.

I am also nervous. I was excited about it possibly being a mini series but now that it will be a tv series I am losing hope. Im not impressed with the casting so far and just feel like this will disappoint.

Not enjoying the casting either. Also the decision to make it a series was disappointing to me.

The teaser preview was the best part of the superbowl!

well........the idea that it is a 'series' is kinda baffling: it is only 13 episodes logn...so far...and that means it might just be more of an old-timey miniseries...like 'roots' and 'rich man, poor man', so, on that score...maybe there's hope

the casting itself means doodly squat...but the way they seem to be changing the characters is more than befuddling

still...spielbergs amblin is still involved...and that alone bodes well, to some extent...

but...i ain't holdin' my breath

i know many a jack reacher fan who thought the casting of cruisewa flatout idiotic...but the movie, and cruise, won them over: it may not've been ideal, but it wasn't bad...

i'll give creedence to that little '80's band, Asia and say 'only time'll tell'

....I'm getting an "underwhelmed" vibe from the previous posts...I'm amazin' at graspin' the obvious...

I Believe that bringing this into a mini-series was the best choice they could have done. I mean, you can't just fit it into one movie, and if they decided to make a trilogy or something like that, I just don't think it would of had a good flow. The 13 episode series would be great cause it would be like 100 page and episode, which it a hell of a lot better then trying to fit 600 pages into 1 hour and a half or 2 hours.

Quite frankly, I'm pretty stoked for this!

As for the casting, its hard to tell which person would work for who, but since they brought in Dean Norris in for Big Jim, I KNOW it's going to be good!

From the moment I started reading Under The Dome, I knew I wanted to see it get made into something. I visualized SO many cool shots and stuff for it and I'm excited to see what happens!

OK. The Barbie & Julia casting has brought me from worried to downright angry. Once again Hollywood spits in the face of the very people that made the book a success.

I at least hope they put in some James Mcmurtry music, since it was mentioned in the novel.

I've never understood the habit of movies and television wherein they buy the rights to a great book and then proceed to gut it for names and setting while throwing out the story which made it great. I try to remain hopeful that many of these rumors are false, but I'm too jaded now to know better.

All movies and tv shows based on good books do is ruin the book. I don't plan on watching this, or any other shows or movies, based on books I've enjoyed.

Looking forward to it regardless of what I've read about the casting, just keeping an open mind about it. Sure as God made little green apples, it will undoubtedly be better than the usual shlock that occupies the TV waves.

Why did God make little green apples? I'm looking forward to following the series just to see if the producers come up with something interesting, including how much if any of the original story survives intact.

So little green worms would have something to eat.

I agree. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

under the dome is my favorite king novel. by far. the audio version is wonderful. raul esparza has such a range of voices. cbs is going to massacre u.t.d. i will expect to see them add beautiful young vampires at some point. look at julia. totally different character. why king agreed to this is beyond my understanding. anyone remember dean koontz's watchers? really great novel. the movies have all been unwatchable. the plot and characters were silly. acting awful. must be the bag of cash. there can be no other reason. maybe i'm just jealous.....my book ended up being self-published. barbie is on a secret mission? it just gets worse and worse.

I always thought that it would be cool to have past actors that has played in his movies should be the cast for UTD...

This is very common though in the film industry. Hitchcock said he didn't read the books often or just a synopsis, or real fast and never looked at it again.
Look at The Birds, very different from the story.
I suppose many people can write a story or screenplay, but it's hard for them to come up with the original idea.

Maybe ms. Mod has a theory of why this is, since I'm sure she must have dealt with this more closely?

Ms. Mod is away on vacation until May 1st, but I'll make a note of your question and she may get back to you after that time. :smile2:
