View Full Version : Just a poem I felt like sharing.

I wrote this for my brother, a fellow Tower chaser, because he's been down lately. I just felt like sharing it here. It's not the best, but it means a lot to me.
(First time poster, by the way. Hooray for me.)
As I sat devouring a popkin
A curious thought entered my head,
What if I'm not eating at all
What if I'm already dead?
Mayhap ka is just a wheel
And all of this I've done before,
Every moment I'm reliving
Just to lose my tet once more.
If a gunslinger is what I am
Then what else could I ever be?
If I cannot make the choice
Does that make me truly me?
Is there any point to living?
Would death be a sweet release?
Sometimes I think it may be so
And with my death I will find peace.
If this is true then why go on?
Why by God should I even bother?
Then it comes to me clear as day.
I will remember the face of my father.
Keep your chin up, your head high,
Keep your eyes turned to the light.
Keep the faith, and thankee-Sai.
Long days and pleasant nights.
Anyone else written any Dark Tower poetry to share?

Excellent poem.
Anyone who can write a poem using the word "popkin" has earned my fandom!
Ill try my stab at one...
Roland's Ode- ie all 8 DT books in 1 poem
What oh what... oh what a drag.
That damned ol' Walter.... Randall Flagg
The wind is blowing against my back
As I chase the man in black
I drew 3 people from alternate worlds
a kid, a druggie, and a skitzo girl
We rode a train that had riddle power
As we made our way to the tower
We hit Topeka and decided to rest on our asses
and I told my ka-tet about Wizards and Glasses
And after 700 pages of talking about Susan
We hit the road and started back crusin'
We then met the preacher from Salems Lot
Easy to read these next 900 pages were not
We took out some wolves with metal plates
And then the people got drunk, they thought we were great
Next me and Eddie met Stephen King
Talk about weird, it seemed like a dream
We found we were part of a book on Tower's shelf
And meanwhile Suze spent a lot of time talking to herself
So the end drew near, and most everybody was head
Hit by a car and shot in the head
But things turned out bright on an alternate Earth
And the turtle was made strong again, with its enormous girth
Oh, wait I forgot to mention this around the 4th line of this ode
On a boat across a river with an old man we once rode
It snowed and was windy and we sat by the fire
and I told the kat et some fairy tales.. hope they didnt think i was a liar!

There once was a man from Gilead
Who knew there was a Tower to be had
So he drew an addict, a harridan and a boy
The ran for the roses, shouting "OY!"....(just call me Lemuel Limerick)
