I'm a 63 year old woman (proud of my age) and I'm working on my first novel. I didn't enter contests, I didn't write short stories. I journaled and then burned them.

I started with one descriptive sentence in July, 2012. It is now Febuary 2013 and I have 19 chapters and over 60,000 words. I have a friend that has recently published his first book and I went to his publisher's website and got a lot of information. It wasn't too intimidating because I'm still writing with the goal of being published.

I need information, questions answered, encouragement and other's input into this new, frightening adventure I've started.

I found this forum by accident (reading directions) and I'm hoping I can find my way back! So. . . .do I just keep checking "Newbies Start Here"?

Hi and welcome. Keep posting on the public side and once you have 10 posts, you can join a social group. You'll find them listed under Community. There are several writers groups and they share a lot of information. You might find them helpful.

Lucky you! You've stumbled onto a great group. (Warning: posting here can be a little addicting.) As Spidey says, there are several writers' groups that you might find helpful, and if you haven't yet read King's book On Writing, I encourage you to do so; you'll find it most helpful.
