No. I can't go for that. No, no can do. I love their French fried taters far too much to quit them. I did find it a bit disgusting that they made their employees work on Christmas though, no holiday pay either. Rotten stuff that. I certainly boycotted McD's on Christmas, but that's all I got for this one. I say sorry to Ronald and his Special Sauce Slinging ka-tet. It's about the taters dude, think of the taters.

What a nightmare-inducing thing to put on tv!!Scared crap outta me and it was broad daylight and I was on this side of the TV, yes I remember. I think the BK advertising people must have been up real late brain(for lack of a better word)storming under a deadline, hallucinating on rancid coffee, and one of them finally said, "I've got it! We compete with peoples' phobia of clowns--a fear which apparently results in fantastic success--with a demon-possessed version of the Burger King guy!".

The boycott does not apply to McDonalds locations in Japan as the McDonalds Lady rep still lives while America mourns Rottin Ronnie forgetting her and being taken over by Chinese Orientals looking like Japanese Orientals with McRib and McDLT still on the Menu!

 Burger King bought their meat from the same Irish suppliers so they disposed of all their burgers also. Which is why McDonalds have started running full page ads stating their meat is 100% Beef...in your face, BK! Yawn. Knowing there's a possibility I may have somehow consumed horse-meat doesn't bother me.
Anyhoo, back to McDonalds, I worked there for a couple of months in my younger years. They give you free food when on duty and the managers were highly offended that I never ate any of my meals there! These people would eat McDonalds meals every single shift. :barf: It was bad enough serving it without consuming it also. Every now and then I occasionally fancy a Big Mac, but it's very rare. Ooh, and I like their sweet and sour dip.

The pirate is Captain Crook, an original sponsor character that held from the 70s. Behind Mayor McCheese is a professor who always works on new happy meal surprises and new sauces etc, just dont remember his name. The McDonald munchkins were a favorite and dance but not very well...

Ate none of the food from the 'hand that was feeding you' but you accepted money to give it to others? Okay, each must choose their morals and standards for themselves. But why not a salad? Why not a sundae or apple pie? How about an employee do it yourself veggie burger? Not surprising that the managers were offended having an employee boycott their food for everybody to see. I personally would have had you clean the toilets with a toothbrush if I would have been your manager back then. No offense.

Choosing not to eat the food where you work is not the same as a boycott, it's a personal choice. And employees eat their food in a staff area away from the public so that would never be an issue. But even if it were, tough titty, I still wouldn't be coerced into eating it. I've always prepared my own lunches for work, no matter where I work, so why should the food being free encourage different behaviour? I always try to avoid packaged salads and sandwiches where possible, they are often laden with unnecessary calories and fat, so I prefer to make my own. And also, people are aware of the consequences should they eat too much fast food, it's their choice to purchase it so no I am not ashamed of being in a job that provided that service. I was raised to earn my own money and always work, there's no shame in that.

Well, friends and family think I've been boycotting McDonald's ever since I read Fast Food Nation about seven years ago. However, I have a dirty little secret to confess: I go through the drive-thru about once a month for the Filet-O-Fish sandwich. And, sadly, that's the extent of my double life...

Not defending McDonalds, really, but they apparently haven't used pinkslime in their products for a year now in the USA. I'm not sure about Canada, though, so you may want to look that up. They claim to never have used it in the UK or Ireland so that wasn't an issue over here. Thank God, we've had enough to deal with from mad cow disease and now imported horse/donkey meat. (Which again, McDonalds claim not to have been affected by the recent meat scandal.)

I went to America for my first trip last year. One thing that stunned me was how much salt you guys have in your food. We bought hot-dogs, ham, bacon etc from the supermarket for snacks at home. None of us could eat the ham because it really was so salty, everything tasted like it was coated in it. Which made me appreciate why you guys drink the most ENORMOUS buckets of fizzy drinks etc... Not dissing your food or anything, I just found it interesting.

Oh man! That reminded me!
A few years ago, I went to a fast food chain I wasn't familiar with. We'd been at the zoo all day, and we were all thirsty. I ordered a mega drink for me and the kids to share. When then went to give it to me, I said, "No, I just ordered a drink, I didn't order any food." I thought for sure they were trying to give me a bucket of chicken! I had the kids take a picture of it. It was so huge it had a handle on top! It was a half gallon of soda!

We couldn't even fit it in any of the cup holders in the car! Luckily, no one used the "car potty" any more, and it was clean, so we set it there. For the hour long drive home, all five of us drank out of the toilet, har! We still couldn't even put a dent in it.
That was pretty shocking, even in America!

Perhaps this is why my blood pressure has gone up - too much salt! I don't want to go on medication so I will have to make some "lifestyle modifications" I guess. oh p.s. I am Canadian but we are just north of our big brother to the south so kinda similar in many ways

I've never implied that wasn't an issue. In fact a couple of years back on here I highlighted the issue of pink slime being used in food products, especially in schools in the USA. It's disgusting that so many people, especially those in authority, think it's acceptable to feed that awful product to kids. Have you seen the video of Jamie Oliver showing kids all the rubbish and pink slime that goes into their chicken nuggets? That was sickening, but even worse was once the nuggets were cooked many of the kids still wanted to eat them. That really saddened me.
