While I had to do three extended tours with the military doing deep counter terrorism hunts and battles, mostly alone, my wife got engaged three times and now that I am civilian her friends are attacking me from all sides and she has gotten engaged again. She also laughs at me here. If you think I am being too sensitive or foolish, I am sorry, but it hurts. All the years I watched her mess around with record numbers of men and still I never gave up hope. You are all right, this forum is not for me and I regret ever having bothered you. See you around....

....Happy Trails pard....seriously, best of luck-and find yourself some help...I really mean that in a serious way-not an insulting manner...

I disagree with Scott....he is a much nicer person than I am. I feel that this board is a gift from Uncle Steve....it is not a place to feed one's own ego or a soapbox to make it all about you. We all have things to contribute in a positive way. If we cannot find anything positive than we'd best be gone. If folks find just negative feelings on the site than the problem is their own fault.....if you are not the problem than there is no solution.
If you can find something good here, than by all means return with our welcome.

Ayko, there are really a lot of nice, caring people here on this message board. I hope you think it over before leaving for good.

I disagree with staropeace.

Mr. King is a perfectly good Yankee, so I don't see him spending much money to give a gift to the tiny fraction of his readership who post here. This board is primarily for promoting his novels and other projects.

I suspect that Ayko is either infected with some nasty adware or one of the scripts on this site is triggering an alarm within his antivirus software. Either way, there also seems to be a language barrier hindering communication.

Ayko, if you're still around, what brought you to this site? Did your antivirus or firewall software tell you that this board is trying to read your cookies when you're off-site? That's a sneaky, but all-too-common, method used by both legitimate and not-so-legitimate ad agencies to target their ads to you... but it's nothing that this site did.

I have posted positive messages in abundance. I have praised Stephen King for his super novel Rose Madder. I have preaised his acting ability as Jordy of Creepshow and Creepshow in general. I have praised the film Shawshank Redemption but not the FSK rating system. I have tried humor and fun with Tommyknockers. I have mentioned a few opinions and observations, but with respect. All in all, my positive messages outweigh any that could be considered negative. Obviously staropeace hasn't read my messages and so his or her comments are void of validity. And thanks for your allowance to return *rolls eyes*

GNTLGNT, I am not really leaving in the sense of no more contact. There are many startrek.com members here that tried to mob me and couldn't. I believe they are still furious about that. No insult taken with your message. I sense your sincerity with the good luck wish. I will send you a PM soon, if I may be so bold, with some interesting news. Stay tuned for that and thanks for the fun. You are truly a cool member.

Thanks Evil Queen for your kind request for me to reconsider leaving. I have decided to stay. However, let me add that I now need to fully concentrate on my own site and writings so, I won't be around here all that much but, I will gander in once in a while.

Later....

Glad you'll still be around, even if only for 'gandering'. We are a pretty good bunch here, sometimes it just takes a while to get into the groove of our Ka-tet. Some of us have a very tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, which might come across as rude, but it's not intended to be that way. Be cool!

Sounds like you distrust "Yankee" motives. If you seriously do then I imagine my response to you will be in vain. While the main site, StephenKing.com, does promote sK's work and provide news updates about him, the Message Board, a service provided at no little personal monetary and emotional expense on his part, is indeed a gift from Steve to his fans. He makes no money here. And anyone who thinks Stephen King is all about money and is stingy hasn't done their homework.

I don't mean to sound uncaring.....and the folks that know me understand that I am far from uncaring.
BUT.....DUDE!!!! Seriously, get over it! We all have our problems.....There are people here who are suffering from many things....sickness, heartache, personal loss, financial loss, etc.
Some of us have had ex-spouses or partners who wen bat****e crazy, some are scared for our lives due to real physical threats.
Nothing makes your situation any more painful than anyone elses. If you look around, you can find plenty to be happy about....hell, if nothing else, be happy that I like daisies!
Yeah, it really sucks that your wife has done this to you.....and it hurts....I get that. But if she was doing this behind your back, then you don't want her!!!
I'm not just talking here.....I know from first hand experisnce, and I'm one of several people who went through a horrible time with an ex.
I think that you also might have a little PTSD going on there, as well.....and you really need to get yourself some counseling. You have to get yourself deprogrammed. I could do it for you, but I'm afraid that I'm all tied up with haircolor and tin foils this week ....(just a little joke to lighten you up, don't go hatin')

Honestly, I mean you no harm. If you want to go, then be gone....and stop posting about leaving in hopes that people will feel sorry for you and beg you to stay.
But if you want to stay, then try to be one of us instead of pitting yourself up against us.
I know that what I've said might sound harsh.....but I've always been bluntly honest..... don't know any other way to be.
Love and cookies ♥

COOKIES AGAIN!

My girlfriend had a migraine last night, but she needed to make three-dozen chocolate chunk cookies for a cookie exchange at her work later on this week. I foolishly volunteered to make them, since she was down for the count, and she even more foolishly agreed.

Now, you should know that I've never successfully made cookies from scratch. Just last week, my entire sheet of peanut butter cookies went down the garbage disposal because they were frighteningly inedible. But hey--all I have to do is follow her recipe, right?

Soooo... now we've got around fifty cookies--each as flatter than a pancake except for where the chocolate chunks bulge up like warts--sitting in the giant red bowl we use for popcorn.

Oh, they taste fine--the boys got to have cookies and milk for breakfast, which is one of those things that only happens after one of my culinary disasters. Last year, they got pizza for breakfast because I've never successfully made pizza from scratch, either.

Her head's better today, so she decided to go ahead and make them herself, tonight. I don't much blame her, though I'm a little disappointed that I let her down. Well, at least I'm still batting a thousand, I guess.

Anybody want a cookie?

That you tried to help her out when she wasn't feeling up to it has to count for a lot and you didn't fail her. You may not have (successfully) made the cookies but I bet you got lots of brownie points. :wink2:

See, Ayko? Everyone here is on the dark side eating cookies.

Take your pick of my Christmas cookies:

- thumbprint cookies with raspberry jam or orange marmalade
- carrot tea cakes with orange icing
- date bars with lemon icing
- pecan puffs
- Swedish ginger thins
- Aleksandr torte cookies (thin shortbread sandwich cookie with raspberry filling and lemon icing)
- chewy sugar "Matisse" cookies with royal icing and pearl shimmer dust
- Toll House cookies
- Queen Anne's lace (Florentines)
- chocolate-dipped coconut macaroons

...and that old stand-by, Trader Joe's French truffles. Sundrop's had 'em; she knows what they're like! It ain't enough to have Lebkuchen at some random Christkindlmarkt.....and the roasted chestnuts smell great but always suck. Better to go with the Marzipanstollen.
