View Full Version : How long does it take you to read all 7/8 books?

Some people have re-read this books many times. I read the original 7 all in one go and it took me at least 6 months - I'm guessing others read a bit quicker (or more precisely spend longer reading each day).

How long did it take you?
How many hours per day?
Do you include any additional stories in your DT re-read such as Little Sisters or Salem's Lot?

Never really thought about the length of time it took on each re read- It's been several times. The last was using the audiobooks and might have been less than a month.

The times on the audiobooks are thus:
Gunslinger- 6 hours
Drawing fo the Three- 8
Wastelands-18
Wizards and glass- 27
The Wind Through the Keyhole- 10
Song of S. - 14
Wolves - 26
DT- 29

Nowhere near as long as it's took me to read all Scott's posts

It took me around 20 years. But that was SKs fault, not mine.

Ditto. 24 years for me. For the same reason.

I read all 7 back to back to back... took about 5-6 months.

I read the seven in short order considering I'm the opposite of a speed reader, but I can't say how many months it took. Even if I knew I think the realization would be unreal. Looking back, the series seemed to suspend time for me.

The first time it took over 20 years... But I once read all 7 in 3 weeks. I was laid up after ankle surgery and had lots of time. Hours and hours of time. King kept me sane.

I usually take my time reading, but Stephen King stories are so good I end up reading them fast because I don't want to put them down! Generally I finish books in less than 3 weeks--that's how long I was allowed to keep library books as a kid, so that's how I pace myself.

It will take me forever to read them, seemingly, since every time I get to the end Roland and I get sent back to the beginning!

Seriously, though, I originally started when 5, 6 and 7 hadn't been written yet, but didn't have to wait long (as many of you did!) I'm listening to them now (mostly in the car), and usually finish them before I get my monthly Audible credit.

I read all 7 of them in 3 or 4 weeks. We had a pretty heavy snow storm, and I had no work to do.

I read them all again about a year ago. It took me about two weeks. I have read them often though, and I think that speeds things up. I do the same with Harry Potter. :geek:

I loaned the first two books of DT to a co-worker and it going on 3 weeks. It's driving me crazy!

A LOT!! Although, I am a very fast reader, it helps tremendously when a book sinks its claws in the way these books did. I was powerless to put them down.........( there are other weighty tomes that have taken me forever to read...it all depends on the quality of the story)
