I keep hearing different versions of Dont fear the reaper, on adverts, on the football (soccer), and it's making want to read the stand. I have not read it yet, and I still have alot of Dark Tower to go (although I'm not against the idea of reading other books between them). I just checked out a video on youtube, it was the intro to the mini series with the song playing whilst the camera swept over hordes of dead bodies, that made me want to watch The Stand, but I want to read it 1st so the book isn't spoilt.

Also, I recently looked in depth into a video game in the making called the Last Of Us, it has a simmilar apocolyptic pandemic theme, and that made me want to read/watch it too.

Argh, very frustrating.

I'm guessing Blue Oyster Cult's copyright ran out. Too bad.

There's only one thing for it...read The Stand already!
I'd definitely recommend reading it before watching the mini-series, the book is far superior. :cool2:

Funny....I saw your thread at work yesterday and when I left for home the song started playing on the radio. You should go ahead and read The Stand, one of my favorites.

Band's rarely own their songs, their publishing companies do and license them as they see fit.

I'm thinking Halloween/Day of the Dead has something to do with it, should die down shortly.

AAAAARRRRGGGHHH!!! I did not mean to use an apostrophe when spelling the word "bands" in my first response. I am so embarrassed!

Its a great song and you should definitely read the book first some of the characters are portrayed a little differently and manynparts that i feel were key parts were left out of the miniseries

One of the Supernatural DVDs has commentary about how all of the old 70s and 80s rock music they use is dirt cheap to license.

Don't feel bad. My own brief and shining "on-air" days consisted mostly of spinning New Kids on the Block and Milli Vanilli.

I never hear the song anywhere..... but I never watch tv either.

However, in the early 90s, this was one of the songs me and my cousin used to listen to in the car, when driving around, looking for "chicks" after school and on the weekend. We never found any. But we listened to alot of cool music.
