Does anyone else watch this show? I just started and I'm absolutely obsessed!

That awful, awful Thomas. Ug.

Anyone?

I'm conviced TV is finally starting to get better.

...as long as the word "reality" is left out of it, it can't help but improve...

I've watched every episode of the first season and am looking forward to seeing more. I think it's an excellent show-- the acting, the sets, and the subject matter are all great. "Downton Abbey" is definitely a breath of fresh air in TV land!

I've only seen three so far and I LOVE it. I took a break last night to watch 666 Park Avenue and Once Upon a Time and the entire time I was wishing I was watching Downton Abbey!

As a British person I'm ashamed to admit I've never seen it.
I do plan on checking it out eventually.

You should be ashamed! It's SO good. I wish I was in the UK while I was watching it. Then I would just be way too excited.

Ooh, just looked on my Lovefilm--like Netflix--and the first two series are available to watch instantly so I will watch the first episode tonight. :y:

Let me know what you think! It's all full of evil and backstabbing and plotting and drama. LOVE! And the costumes are to DIE for!

I watch it for Maggie Smith. They give her all the best lines, real whoppers that bring a conversation to a screeching halt.

I watched the first three episodes last night and think I'm hooked already! It was 1:30am when I eventually dragged myself to bed, after debating whether I should watch another episode...considering I had to be up at 6am the bed won. Just. There's a few actors/actresses I enjoy watching starring in it so I'm surprised it took me this long to check it out. And yar, I love the sets and the costumes.

Ally - I stayed up WAY too late finishing the season last night. SO good. I have to find season two.

I also was very excited to see a SK tie in-ish.

Mary says to Mr. Crawley when they are talking about how hard he works, "You know what they say about Jack..."

And he responds, "So you think I'm a dull boy?"

My husband and I were like WHAT? We thought SK invented this! So of course we googled it and it looks like it's a poem from 1659, I believe that says something like:

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy
All play and no work makes Jack a toy

That may be a little off but I thought it was a very cool learning experience!

Oh my, I just found this thread. I love Downton Abbey. Unfortunately, Netflix only has the first season. I keep checking for the 2nd because of course, my idiot cable company doesn't carry BBC.

I'll ask my husband where he's getting it from because he's gotten us caught up to the current season that's underway. I'll find out for you.

DO NOT READ THIS IS YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE CHRISTMAS EPISODE THAT HAS NOT YET AIRED IN THE US.

For my British friends that have:

*gasp* I am shocked!! What do you guys think? Devastated.

And I am very confused. What season are they on in the UK? Because season three is just now starting in the US and I am way ahead of the rest of my fellow Americans.

Downton Abbey is by far one of the most addicting, worthwhile TV shows I have ever watched and I'm excited for Sunday!

I like downton a lot. It's very very good. But I don't understand why it's so much more popular than other British period dramas of the past twenty years.

I don't understand why either but I have watched a lot of them and I think this one is one of the best shows I have ever seen. It's rapidly creeping up to replace my current favorite show of all time - Freaks and Geeks.
