OK then...new beginnings.
With the "old" Cantina being closed, Theme Song thread as well...maybe it`s time for a new Happy Thread as well.
So Ms Mod can close the old one.
Like all of you keep saying, and it is really the only thing to do - we have to move forward.
And that`s what John would want and wants from us.
So, here it goes - I was, am and forever will be happy I know all of you.
Was, am and will be happy for knowing John Dalglish.
Happy for reading The Tommyknockers at the moment and for having Sai King in my life...dang, does that guy have the ability of making me laugh.:D
Happy for having my family with me.
And I WILL keep finding happy moments, not matter what.
So, lets go...tell me your happy moment, if you please..:)
Cheers.

Oh, I'm sorry, Srbo. I should have been more specific.
Black is the 1st of 4 books in Ted Dekker's Circle series. They're all named after colors, such as Red, White, and Green.

Thanks Ms Mod. I just can't seem to get away from death this week. My cousin's wife just went to the hospital yesterday bleeding from her ears, eyes and nose, needed to be resuscitated four times and is now in a coma. They found that she has leukemia, a very virulent type. She thought she was pregnant, so she thought the nausea and exhaustion she felt was because of that. They are close to declaring her brain dead, she's been non responsive. I thought 54 was too soon, but Kristen is 28 with two young children. I feel bombarded with all this sudden death, and so sad for my cousin Jesse and their kids. He and Kristen were inseparable, I'm worried for him.

I am happy that I will be getting a replacement phone--for free, because it was still covered by the warranty! Whoo-hoo! The ringer on it quit working, we have insurance on the phones, but it would have cost me $150, and the phone only cost me $50 to begin with, so I thought that was ridiculous. I have just been making do for months with it on vibrate, because it will not make any sound whatsoever.
So I called this morning to see if I could activate one of my old phones, and found out the current one is still under warranty! I will get the new one soon, it is refurbished, so that gave me a little pause, because the ringer is all that is wrong with this one, but hopefully I will get a good one.

I am happy today because I haven't chopped off my foot or any toes! Yay! Got home from the store with stew meat and onions and veggies (oh, that reminds me, I forgot to put the baby carrots in the crock pot), hadda get a stew going so 10 hrs from then I get supper, slinging and cutting up the meat in my tee-ninesie kitchen which has dying lilywhites and amarylises and old mail and grabbed a towel which flipped my Cutco knife--you know, "the sharpest knives in the world", those--into the air and to the floor and not before winking hello to my left foot.
Now, don't get excited, I bled profusely for only as long as it takes to finish chopping the onions and starting and finishing doing so to the tomatoes, and adding the garlic and pressing the wound periodically, knowing the clotting cells would eventially take over, though delayed by the asprin and the Plavix. This is why we save the Bactroban and in worser-case scenarios the antibiotics which we were supposed to complete, but you know how nurses are--don't do as I do, do as I say! And I miraculously own a box of the big bandaids, big enough for, like, feet.
Now, for the carrots! Thanx for reminding me!

I don't use V8/tomato juice in either my stew or my homemade vegetable soup. The first time I ever made vegetable soup my husband was watching. He looked at me and asked "aren't you supposed to put tomato juice in that"? I guess that's the way a lot of people make it( his mother) but I had never heard of making it that way. I will probably try it that way someday just to see how it tastes.

I've never had it with tomatoes either but have seen recipes that do put them in. I'm not usually one to be afraid to experiment with recipes but know I like beef stew without them so that's one that if it ain't broke, don't fix it for me. I am happy today because I found people today who made me smile even though my day is sh*t here at home. I was out running errands...
-the nice lady at Walmart.
-the nice young man at one grocery store who will talk to someone about ordering in lactose-free CREAM for me... for my tea.
-the person at the gas station who treats me like a princess.
-the staff at the grocery store where I do the majority of my shopping... three of them made me smile today... one of them did it repeatedly.
-the chatty lady in the motor-wheelchair whom I spent twenty minutes talking to.
Those folks help make up for other things going on. I'll take my smiles and friendly folks where I find them.

I don't know that happy sums it up, more like elated/ecstatic/hyped-up-on-excitement!
My husband and I don't really celebrate V. Day, we give small gifts to the kids, but we rarely get each other anything. Sometimes we'll go out to dinner, but usually it is just a nice night at home, snuggled up watching movies. When money is tight, it just seems frivolous, and it seems like money is always tight around here.
This year is a little different- we were able to pay off some hospital bills with our tax return, get some much needed stuff like gutters (don't get me started on the Gutter Saga) and shoes for the kids, and we had some cash left over after all that. So my husband decided to sneak the debit card out of my wallet- which is usually a huge no-no (we're talking "hope you enjoy celibacy" proportions), and he very quietly, very sweetly, bought me a Kindle Fire!
It is especially thoughtful because he um, complains fairly frequently that I read too much. Which ok, I can see his point when I forget about dinner and it burns because I'm at a part of a book where I just can't stop. Or I've read half a book with clothes mildewing in the washer. So not only am I happy today for my new toy, but that my husband loves me enough to feed my literary addiction, knowing that it will probably come at a personal expense to him. And when I reminded him of all that, with a blissful, kid at Christmas smile on my face, he just said it was worth it. Awesome.

Yesterday the mailman brought me ten hardcover books.:)
All seven DT`s in Hardcover, IT first edition, first printing, Salem`s Lot and Dead Zone.
The DT`s are beautiful, man.
Finally I got`em all in HC.:)
Now I need the Green Mile in HC, Firestarter and Night Shift. And I think that`s it for SK hard-covers. I shall find them one day, too.
Stay happy, my friends.

I am happy today because I just returned from a nice visit with Virginia, who was in high spirits. Her mind was clear today and she loved the Valentine's wreath that I made for her. Terri, their dog, enjoyed a new stuffed bear and treats. John was pleasant too-- miracles do happen.

I am happy today because I get paid!
I can't believe I'm at the point in my life when grocery shopping is a treat. This kid of mine eats so much...oatmeal and blueberries at 8, a banana at 9 with some milk, a cheese stick 15 minutes later and as soon as he was done with that he wanted more! I gave him some cucumber and tomato and told him nothing else until lunch. I guarantee he will ask for something else in 20 minutes. whew! He's like a mini garbage disposal.

Because despite my misgivings over an e-reader, I am really enjoying my new toy. It is not as hard to read on as I thought it would be, and I have access to web-only treats like Mile 81. Which was great, btw. You know it's good when you want to yell at the characters- GET AWAY!!!

I'm happy today because it's Friday and I'm off from my fulltime job next week, which can be extremely stressful. I'll still be at my part time job, but it's not as bad. I think it's the first time I've had a full week off in two or three years.

I actually had to put it down in the middle to make dinner when I was reading it and honestly, I was glad for the break! For some reason it really, really freaked me out. I kept picturing this rest stop I used to pass right before the Lake Placid exit in upstate NY. *shudder* Gave me the willies so bad I had a dream about it that night! So, so good! :eek2:
I am happy today because I am not in a lot of pain, it's sunny with a high of 45, and I get to watch last night's Project Runway and eat a Baby Ruth! Yeah! :biggrin2:

I hear you, it was creepy! Especially because a lot of us would stop if it looked like there was a car in trouble, and would we peer into the car? Maybe knock on the window? Sure. It was also one of the goriest shorts I've EVER read! All those brains getting sliced into, and then the metallic *ponk* of the car burping itself back into shape...

I`m happy today cos I just got back from a second hand book store closing sale, bought 12 HC books for 38 bucks..amongst them Danse Macabre ( I didn`t have that one! ), Straub, Barker, two beautiful leather-bound Agatha Christie books, Ranking and some Cinderella pop-up books for my daughter.

I'm currently at my mom's oncologist's office where a bunch of guys showed up dressed head-to-foot in Mardi Gras garb. They arrived on a bus and gave all the cancer patients, workers, and everyone else a bunch of beads and fake flowers with the petals dyed purple, green, and gold. I wish I had a camera with me so I could have taken a picture of them while they were standing outside because they looked hilarious. Anyway, it's cool to see some people doing some nice things for people they don't know. I wish I would have dressed up today because I got an ugly green pimp jacket at home that would have gone great with my new gold beads. :biggrin2:

Phew. Happy to be back home. In the time it took to leave the house, go the oncology office, wait for the blood count, wait for the doctor to show up, and make it back home I could have watched Ben-Hur in its entirety. I know doctor visit are incredibly long, but this one took forever. The oncologist (who I just noticed looks like a combination of Dan Aykroyd and John Candy ) had some emergency or something and it took even longer than usual to see him.
I'm pooped.

I am happy today because the police answered my call quickly on Saturday... and also because I found out through another organization that the police have been talking to that ALL THE COPS in my town want to shut down my psycho. They are tired of his crap. He's been phoning the cop shop like crazy to complain about my husband being friends with his soon-to-be-ex wife. I guess they realized that my BIL is an aux. cop with 18 yrs of volunteer time under his belt. They are willing to help. They also realized that the 1 to 5 percent chance of him following through on his threats became 100% on Saturday when he showed up in front of MY HOUSE. He went to my neighbours and started telling them horrible lies. He wants us to get hurt. It was a gong show. Quite the scene and all that. At one point the big cop had him bent backward over the hood of his truck while he screamed into his face.
I am happy because from what I hear, it may not be long before they have enough to arrest him for something, anything, and MAKE it stick in court. What I think would be karmic for a first conviction would be say... 100 hours of community service. The man has no intention of ever holding a job again. He thinks he'll get his wife to support him forever. He's got a surprise coming. So, UNpaid community service work would be so karmic...
I still feel like I need a drink, though.
I'm happy I'm a pothead. Even though ALL of the cops in town know now. Hell, I'm medical. They're checking to make sure I have enough but not too much. Gotta love men in uniform.

I'm happy because I've been to watch my niece's dance school perform tonight at the local theatre. I love watching her dance. She is a beautiful dancer, especially her ballet and lyrical but she's just amazing at everything! Although after 11-years of dance training of course she would be amazing! She makes me so proud.
Now I'm not a fan of Katy Perry but I loved the kids dancing to this song so will play it here, if y'all wanna listen. The enthusiasm the kids had while dancing to it made me wanna dance, thank God I'm having a well deserved night out on Friday! That makes me happy again, yay!! :y:
