I grew up in creskill but a block or two away from Bergenfeild. Anyway one day, I remember it was winter and a flock of crows came down my street. Never seen it before or since and this was back late 80's early 90's. It made reading dark half a little spookier for me. I almost don't believe it happened but it did.

...reminds me of thinking about a name for my little plot of ground in the country, and as an homage to da King-I thought about "Stormcrow Ridge", and just about that time-I looked up into a dishwater gray sky to see a murder of crows circling-and very near the ground...talk about yer "writin' on the wall"!....

Things like that do make the reading spookier....
A similar thing happened to me while Reading Pet Sematary.
A huge stray cat sat on my front steps every evening....when I finished the book, the cat was gone.

Everytime I see birds flying in large numbers, I think of that book. I was all holed up in a vacation house in the middle of nowhere doing watercolor paintings while I listened to the audiobook.
Granted, I was on a huge Stephen king binge, but I got so freaked out I couldn't go in the hot tub at night. It was cosmic.
