What are some Stephen King novles that you never ever had the time or money to buy the book and read or some books that you only read once and cant remember what happened?

Yesterday I got Needful Things and Rose Madder from barnes and noble and Needful Things I only read once back in the mid 1990s and then the movie came out.

Rose Madder is one of the few Stephen King novels that I never had the time or money to buy and read. Also Rose Madder was always the hardest one to catch back then when it first came out in bookstores. Just not enough copies of that book or something LOL

The novels that I am having a hard time finding are hard copies of The Shining and Thinner. I check used bookstores every day!

The Stand

As a newbie to the SK world via audiobooks (40 min commute to work) I just finished the DT and currently on The Talisman.

I think I'm going to start pecking away at The Stand after Black House.

Gah....I wish there was a half priced audio books store....guess thats the premium I have to pay to outsource my "reading".

SK is so prolific, it is easy to miss a couple along the way. I've read most everything but I haven't read, "Insomnia", Desperation" or "Blaze". I think there are one or two more.

The Colorado Kid. As short as it is I don't think it's worth spending six bucks on it. I look for it at the local flea market, but I haven't found it yet.

I am almost caught up with SK at the moment. I am reading UTD (love it). After that I have FDNS and Gerald's Game (not sure why I missed this one) in waiting. After that I will just have to get a hold of a copy of Blockade Billy and I will be caught up! At least until the new book comes out (Thank You Stephen King!!!). :grinning:

I never read Christine or Carrie probably due to the fact neither story really interested me after seeing the movies as a kid. I suspect Ill get around to those two at some point though.

The only others I haven't read are The Colorado Kid, Storm of the Century and Geralds game.

Ill pick up Colorado Kid and Geralds game when I get a chance when I remember.

Ive never read storm of the century because isn't it written like a screen play? I always assumed that would annoy me.

You know what they say about people who assume though.

I only started reading everything by SK about 10 years ago, so I started on his early works. So far I'm catching up though. I used to buy in what we call "booksale" here, but now that I only have to buy the new (and more expensive) ones, I still can't buy everything all at once coz some are still in hardcover. So, I still have to wait for the paperback edition, which are more handy and cheap :wink2:

For me it would be The Colorado Kid.Got it right next to my recliner. Planning to give it another try.I'd tried it before but got sidetracked because I was irritated by the accent which had to be explained. I didnt care for the endless accent problems. Maybe its central to the story tho, so since SK wrote, I'm gonna take a deep breath & give it another try. (doing this for you big guy--only cause its YOU!) hahahahahaa..catches breath, ok now. its true tho, if it were any other writer-heck no, I'd toss it right now.

AS I'm still new to SK it may be easier to say what I have read (Last count it was about 12, working my way through different seasons, I'm half way through The Body.. love it so far :D. ) I have pretty much all of his works, except for the Colorado Kid and Cycle of the Werewolf (but I have read that one), I'm sure there are a few more too

The Colorado Kid. As short as it is I don't think it's worth spending six bucks on it. I look for it at the local flea market, but I haven't found it yet.

I found my copy at the local Dollar General, along with a few others in the Hard Case Crime series. Paperbacks are usually about $1.25 there.

As for ones I've never read, I started reading my mom's copy of the Tommyknockers when I was about 10, and only made it a few chapters in before I think I gave up. Then I got myself a copy of Christine maybe a year or so later, and same thing, only made it a few chapters in before I quit and moved on to other SKs. I'm nearly 26 now, and have yet to go back and try reading them again. Probably should though.
There's a few I've read 5 years or more ago though that also need re-read. My most recent re-reading spree, started a year and half ago and continuing on, has mostly centered on the Dark Tower and the closely related ones, with a few others tossed in.

It is funny but if you had asked me 6 months ago the answer would of been "Lisey's story" and the last collection of short stories - After sunset maybe? Since then i have started reading all his works in published order and have had a few surprised - all Bachman books accept Rage were new to me (not ones like thinner ...but Roadwork/The Running Man) , i have also just finished Four After Midnight and while i know i have read Landoliers at least a few times the others were less familar and i swear i have never read The Libary Policeman before.
Tommyknockers to surprised me because i thought i had read it before but it felt completly new to me so not sure.

Have read all the novels and loved them all. I bought a copy of Rocky Wood's Stephen King Uncollected and Unpublished. That started me on a massive scavenger hunt. There were (are) many short stories and poems that I had not read or seen before. It has been fun trying to gather some of these.

My two favorites are "Before the Play" published in Whispers and the original publication of Children of the Corn in Penthouse 1977.

Well, just off the top of my head - Cell is one - I took it out of the library but then just did not read it and returned it. "It" is another one and of course the Dark Tower series. Looks like I got some "splaining to do" as Ricky used to say to Lucy, eh? :eek2:

There are actually lots of others as well that I have not read yet so there is a lot to look forward to. I read Stephen King many years ago and then just recently "rediscovered" him. I loved Dumas Key, Under the Dome, 11/22/63, Rose Madder, Hearts in Atlantis, Insomnia, to name a few that I read recently for the first time. I should do up a list of those I still need to get to. I really enjoyed "On Writing" and currently I have Danse Macabre on the go as well as "Skeleton Crew". Oh yes - Bag of Bones was really good but I did not enjoy the movie as it was hard to picture Pierce Brosnan as the main character. Lisey's Story was hard to get into at first but eventually it got much better. Well, that's all folks as they say in the Looney Tunes... Back to work as my wee break is now over :biggrin2:
