Has there been any news regarding this forthcoming story that is mentioned in the intro to Low Men in the "Stephen King Goes to the Movies" book? I've searched the boards and the net but to no avail. I have been wondering for years what happened to Carol Gerber.

Steve had planned to write this two or three years ago but it hasn't happened yet.

Is it just me, or does "The house on Benefit Street" and Carol's story (also referenced in the Stand) seem like the aborted novel "The House on Value Street" that King apparently tried to write in the 70s?

I salivate any time a new SK novel/story is mentioned...(that's probably why I'm a preferred customer at the laundromat):biggrin2:Hope it happens...Oh hell, who am I kiddin'-he could put a damn yellow pages supplement with his name on it and I'd pony up the bucks(Hi Stephen King Anonymous, I'm the Giant and I'm addicted...)

I hope it happens. I would love to read it and to find about what happened to Carol Gerber.

Hmmm...sounds like a job for Dickie Bachman.

I also feel that I need to know what happened to Carol. Most likely because she is such an important character to the main characters in Hearts in Atlantis, but also because her story seems too tragic to be simply swept under the rug. Plus I think that SK really has a knack for creating interesting (and I don't just mean attractive, although that is part of it for me) female characters, and I am yet hoping for a SK-story where there's something resembling a happy end for one of his female characters.
