I thought the storyline was pretty original and the acting was so cheesy it was good! I liked how they were able to become invisible or 'thin'. DT related mayhap? The actor that plays Charles made it real easy on the eyes as well. How handsome was he?! *swoons*

Ok, fess up King fans. How many enjoyed this one as much as me?

Oh lord! I saw this one such a long time ago, I'm trying to pull it up on my memory banks. Most of the time when they re-make SK books into movies I'm disappointed with them. Now that I think of it Sleepwalkers wasn't that bad at all! Yup I agree with ya, pretty good movie!!

I liked Sleepwalkers too, but as you know, CJ, I like EVERYTHING SK related! lol! ;) I liked all the cameos too, especially Clive Barker's, I thought that was cool!

Sleepwalkers was really good. I buy it last summer and saw it with my friend. We like the cat in the movie. The movie was scary and Stephen was great in his role.

I really like this movie. I have not seen it in a long time! I love the song, Sleepwalk, by Santo and Johnny. I frist heard it in this movie and I danced to it at my wedding! So, this movie and song had a special role in my life!

I liked this movie.

Cats always seemed to be Heroic to me anyway, so I loved the fact that they saved the day.

The incest was a bit much though- honestly, that's the most horrible part of the story for me. But Sai King likes to 'get you' any way that he can- and he sure got me good with this story!

Long days and pleasant nights.

I actually bought a copy, started it, decided I wouldn't like it and shelved it. Then I read some of this thread, then noticed it was showing on Comcast On Demand, so figured it wasn't coincidence, and watched it. It was better than I thought it'd be.

On my first try it looked like it was going to be slow, but it isn't. And it's scary and focuses on a very taboo subject.

Hey CJ,

No, you're not the only one who loved it...I did too! What intrigued me the most is that it's not a movie about good guy verses bad guy, but different wants and needs in conflict with each other. The Sleepwalkers are sympathetic characters...you care about them. But you also care about the humans...

I wouldn't say it's one of his best stories...it's Stephen King just cuttin' loose and havin' fun...and inviting us to have a good time with him.

I have watched the movie many times and have loved it each time.

I bought this on DVD at a pawn shop about 8 months ago. I havent watched it since I bought it. BUT I did watch it when I was younger staying over at my cousins house ( his mom let him watch anything, my mom would have killed me). I dont remember much, but I do remember laughing my rear off when the cop gets stabbed by the corn on the cob. The corn was all bloody. it was gross but I though it was the funniest thing.

I couldn't watch the film without thinking of Charmed! I kept waiting for Alyssa Milano and the other girls to show up and save the day.

But I liked the movie. :smile2:

My favorite parts of the movie were when the cars kept changing when one of the sleepwalkers was running from the police. I thought that was so cool! I wish my car would do that when the police are chasing me!

I loved this movie too. I must confess though, after watching Pet Cemetery I don't watch to many of his movies anymore. Scared the living daylights out of me. Every time I see a cat I think of King!:eek2: I can get through the books just fine.

I can watch most any SK-related movie, but this was awful. There is a scene where all these fake cats are attached to actress who is spinning around to make it seem as though they are attacking her. A laugh out loud kind of bad movie.

Sleepwalkers was great, Alice Kriege is just allring enough ,and severely manipulative seeming to make it work. Also it was cool that around the time of beauty and the beast,
they employed the actor from Desperation ,all things serve the beam. It is also like a cross between Cat People and Christine, maybe?

Ya know, I watched this movie for the first time last night. My hubby and I kept commenting how cheesy it was but we kept watching it and before we knew it, it was over. Not too bad, but not the best. I always like to watch and see cameo's of Mr. King in his movies.

I'm watching Sleepwalkers now on TV and it's one that I have always loved. I just love Alice Krige! She was wonderful in Ghost Story which is a great book by Peter Strab and the movie rings true. I really love the soundtrack of Sleepwalkers!

I liked it too. One of the better Stephen King films I think. The sleepwalker creatures themselves were an interesting creation, vampiric humanoid cat people with glamour and the ability to become dim. It would be interesting if Mr King brought them back in his books. The species I mean, not those particular characters.

I didn't like this movie at all. It could have been cast better, and maybe a different director too. King wrote the screenplay, but it's the job of the director and producer to put it on the silver screen. I'm sure King's screenplay was excellent but it could have been filmed better.

I love "Sleepwalkers", why on earth it isn't revered to with the same likes of "Reanimator" I still don't know. The two share a similar thematic veins, style and humor.

I love "Sleepwalkers" because I can feel Mick Garris's love for the film leaking through every shot, which can be said for all of his adaptations- regardless of the final quality. I respect that in a filmmaker and it always makes this film a joy to watch

I've seen this movie on TV, so I don't know if it was the original or if it was censored. But I liked it very much, those creatures are so interesting. I can't forget them, although it's approximately 10 years ago I've seen it :grinning:

Once I asked my boyfriend if he knew this movie, and he doesn't know it :eek2:, I was shocked. He knows so many movies but not this one...

I watched Sleepwalkers for the first time just yesterday. I liked the movie, though it didn't seem to be scary to me at all. I liked Brian Krause there and I sort of started appreciate cats after this movie :) Well, I don't think I'm gonna re-watch it, but it's a nice movie indeed. Besides, it was nice to see one more film where Mr.King himself appeared :smile2:

I love this movie!!!!! I found it in the discount bin (how horrid that Sai King's movie made it in a discount bin :glare:) and bought it on DVD. The actor that played Charles is Brian Krause and he also played Leo on the tv series Charmed. Sleepwalkers has its own special charm, and I do enjoy it...but have to admit, it's a terrible movie.
Think about it:
Most DVD's advertise their film with the name of the actors on it. This markets the video with "Cameos by..."
The definition of Sleepwalkers at the beginning is stupid. When the cops find the dead cats and the girl at the beginning, there's no suspense, 'cause you already know what the monster is and how it feeds.
You can see a Sleepwalker's true form in the mirror -- did you know when you look into a camera, you see the mirrored reflection of the object you're photographing? When Tanya takes Brian's picture in the graveyard, she should have seen his true form right them.
A police officer with a cat that comes to the rescue of Tanya when the monster is defeated by cats? How convenient.

Maximum Overdrive is cool. Sleepwalkers...that was a major stinker.

But the funny thing about Stephen King stories is...they're like pizza....even when it's not good...it's still all right.

I will admit its not my favorite,it is a good movie though. I just saw it a minute ago, since my aunt let me borrow her copy. I skipped pass one scene but I would perfer not to watch it. I am still bothered by the mother/son relationship(I so hope that she changed him and he was adopted or something). I had to laugh about the cat scene at the end "that is one bad cat allergy"is how I described it. I was hoping there would be a directors commentary, but apparently there isn't one. I would have loved to hear people talking about the movie. Can someone explain the picture of the women, cat and thier "kid" at the very begining?

I'm going to be watching this one tonight. The general feeling is one of fond memories which is great :P
As for cats saving the day, well... they do it all the time, but they just don't go on about it like some of the other super heroes :P
Sometimes a bit of cheese in a film is great.
I read here too that it was adapted from a King novel.... which one was that, as i would like to read that first.
or was it that people mean that he wrote the screenplay.
nice to see that Mick Garris directs it, he does seem to love directing King's work, and he isn't too bad at it either :D

Hah, this movie. Good cheese, weird characters, great song (Santo and Johnny! Love that tune!) and all around popcorn flick. BUT, been a long time since I watched it. Only seen it once, and that was at the drive-inn with a girl from my high school, so I really didn't pay that much attention, y'know? Probably ought to see it again.

And, this is an original screenplay, NOT an adaption--I busted my sister's boyfriend when he said "Oh yeah, I thought the book was much better..." Yeesh, why do people gotta lie about something so stupid?

I saw this film recently, and I really enjoyed it until the cemetary scene. Before the cemetary scene I thought the acting was a bit cheesy but most old horror movies had cheesy acting, after that scene is just got too cheesy and corny (pun intended) although i did like the cameos, particularly those of Stephen King, Clive Barker and Tobe Hooper. The soundtrack to the film however was amazing, Johnny and Santo - Sleepwalk is a spectacular song. So overall good film that just gets cheesier as it goes, if your not expecting it you may find you dont like the film, but with the knowledge of how cheesy it gets you may enjoy it more. I think I will enjoy it more on a second watching.

oh i love this movie. i recently remembered it after hearing the santo and johnny music somewhere. i love the sleepwalk track. its that type of music that raises your fur up. to me, it brings to mind that if cats did become musicians this would be the sound. its got an almost cat like harmony to it.
yeah i know the movie was made with plenty of cheese, but its got more personality than all the big hollywood movies put together.

I pulled Sleepwalkers from my dusty dvd archives awhile back and watched it for the first time in many years. Honestly, I can't say much for it. It is by no means the worst Stephen King movie that's been made but it's pretty cheesy. The best thing about it was Madchen Amick. She was really hot. She was on an episode of Psych last season and she's still really hot. But I digress.
