Saw Nightwatch over the weekend. It's a Russian movie mainly about vampires, but there's a lot of other things going on in it. Visually it was really impressive, and there's an awesomely gritty fight between a human and a vampire. The story kind of falters at times, but overall a really cool flick. Much better than those Underworld messes, IMHO (there aren't any werewolves that I saw in this movie, but there are 'shapeshifters', and you briefly glimpse a woman transform into a tiger in one eye-popping scene).

Went to see 'Remember Me' this weekend. The beginning was a bit shaky and the cutting a little strange, but it quickly improved. I cared about the characters and their stories. The end is a bit controversial, but I think it worked. SERIOUSLY bad ad campaign, though-this is NOT a romance, though it has a romantic aspect. It's more about seizing the day and taking the good that's around us.

Also, Zombieland was dissappointing---- it had some funny parts but not many and was kinda slow

Last weekend I watched two movies.
Groundhog Day. It's a real funny film, a good comedy. I like it. Obviously, it's a kind of movie one should watch when he's in low spirits. :)
Veronika Decides to Die. It's such a nice movie! I liked the ending that was quite unpredictable to me and I liked how Sarah Michelle Gellar played her role. Obviously, this is the movie that is worth watching and it makes you think about the life. :)

Old Dogs=There were funny parts. My kids thought it was hilarious!

Up In the Air=It was okay. I see why it was nominated, it had it's moments. Worth watching.

Precious=I fell asleep, but the beginning was promising. I give this another try.

Up next, Capitalism: A Love Story...

I watched Case 39. Well, it was quite entertaining. Not really scary, but a good movie. There are some things that we've seen in many other films, but still I think that this movie is worth watching!

Also I have also rewatched The Shining (mini-series). That's my favorite one! :) I'm ready to watch it again and again. It's just great! :)

Saw a movie called Ink through Netflix instant play. It's an indie fantasy movie about the nature of dreams and nightmares, sort of - it's tricky to explain. Anyway, it's an awesome movie with a great story, cool soundtrack, and some unexpected action scenes. Filming style was interesting as well. One of the most interesting movies I have seen recently, highly recommended.

The Fourth Kind - Just an ok movie. Didn't really hold my interest and didn't really work for me. Has it's creepy moments, but the whole "this was real part" was just some huge B.S. 5/10

Edge of Darkness - It's great to see Mel working again. I really liked it, but I like revenge movies in general. The best part is towards the end: "I...am a United States Senator!" - "By what standards?". F'ing badass.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief - Love the books, so this is biased b/c the movie deviates from the book too much. It might be worth checking out if you've never read the books. 5/10

17 Again - Don't really like Zac Efron's whole High School Musical crap, but surprisingly I really liked this movie a lot and Efron in it. 8.5/10

Singin' in the Rain - I don't like musicals, but this is just a great movie. Hilarious and great chemistry b/w the actors. 10/10

Slammin' Salmon - I've loved Super Troopers, Beerfest, and even like Club Dread. Therefore I was bound to love this as well. Hilarious if you like the aforementioned movies. 9/10

The Sixth Sense - I had never fully seen the movie before and I knew the whole twist thing, but I still loved watching it. 10/10

Shutter Island - Great movie. Love the twist(s) in the movie, although the first was expected. 9/10

The Hunger - Absolutely terrible vampire movie, for me at least. Didn't hold my interest at all, although I liked David Bowie. 3/10

Sherlock Holmes - I like Guy Ritchie's movies and I liked this. 9/10

Pandorum - Great sci-fi flick that's worth checking out. 8.5/10

I finally watched "Twilight" last Saturday night. It was pretty good; a little long and drawn out, but I loved the romance of Bella and Edward's connection. Last night I watched "American History X."

This is one of my favourite movies, extremely powerful. The range of emotions I go through whenever I watch this movie astounds me. To go from feeling hatred for a character, to pity and admiration all in the same movie is amazing. Yet Ed Norton's character creates all these feelings within me. The ending is so very sad, always makes me cry. And the scene where Norton's character kills the guy on the pavement is one I can never watch. Far too realistic and brutal.

The last movie I watched was a movie I watched on tv yesterday titled The Last Mimzy. Its good! Its loosely based on one of my favorite short stories... Mimsy Were the Borogoves by Lewis Padgett (science fiction). The screenwriters made changes I didn't think were necessary (kind of how I don't think its necessary to alter SK's novels when they're made into movies) The script changes made the story less abstract... I guess so that more movie-goers would like it.

Stay. Can't even say if I like it or not. It was rather interesting to see but somehow I missed the idea of this movie. I don't think I will watch it again.

Pet Sematary. I've rewatched both the first and the second movie. Love them both! They are definitely on the list of my favorite films.

My last movie; hmmm Kids talked me into "Peter Jackson's" KING KONG Saturday, although it was no "Brahms Stokers" Dracula[not suitable for 2 pre-teens]; The effects and the passion of this movie still causes my eyes to tear. Was beauty what killed the Beast. The premius of the whole show satellites the very essense of what beautiful is, versus the beastly nature of the times."1976" King Kong was good too. What can I say, we are all animal lovers at heart.

I watched 500 Days of Summer. It was okay, great for a romantic comedy I suppose, but that's not really my kind of movie (it did manage to avoid most of the cliches of the rom coms, at least). I like both Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zoe Deschanel, and it had a cool soundtrack (Spoon, The Doves, The Pixies), and I actually laughed out loud at a few points...I was just bored for a majority of the film. If you like romantic comedies I would suggest it. It was definitely written and directed well.

Let the Right One In. It's a Scandinavian vampire flick, one of the better vampire movies I've seen (there aren't that many, so competition isn't exactly stiff). If you like foreign films check it out. It had subtitles, which I'm not crazy about, and it was very subdued, the pacing slow, so don't expect a slaughter-fest or a lot of action.

Whatever Works. Woody Allen film staring co-creator of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm Larry David. Sounds like an awesome pairing; I really like both of them. The movie was subpar considering the talents involved. Had some laugh out loud moments, but they were too few and far between. I felt like Woody Allen's done this movie before...about a million times.

But for me the original movie is still better. So, I don't think I'm gonna rewatch this remake in future. But as for the original film, I would watch it with pleasure again.

I admit when I have watched Twilight a few times.. I did like the first half hour, especially the score and partly the tension between the two leads.
But in New Moon that was completely gone. Only good thing was that I had spend my honeymoon there were they shot the last part in Italy, so it was great to see places we walked too.
I have seen a trailer for the next one, Eclipse, and that one seems to a bit more fast paced, I will probably watch it.

I liked the story, but me and my husband both weren't too crazed about the cast. We would have liked different actors for Perseus, Zeus (Ian McKellen came to mind! :D), Hades (Grima from LOTR would be our pick).

Hmm, I've been on a roll lately:

I've watched Lovely Bones, Avatar, and Edge of Darkness in the past few days.

Lovely Bones is just a spectacular movie, gripping story and beautiful visuals. Although I've heard some fans of the book do not like it...oh well their loss.

Avatar is of course...well Avatar. The second time I've watched it, and I was still on the edge of my seat and in awe of the visuals. Some people say the storyline is not "original enough", but honestly, not many movies are truly original. I think I enjoyed it more the second time through.

Edge of Darkness is decent, it was an exciting story and I enjoyed the film for the most part. Nothing spectacular, but it's definitely worth a watch.

I watched a movie called "Carriers" a couple of days ago. It was pretty good, kind of like the Stand because it was set after most of the people had died from some strange disease and what the rest were doing to survive. One of the stars was Chris Pine who played Captain Kirk in the new Star Trek.

I most recently watched "Duel", written by Richard Matheson based on his story. It was apparently Spielberg's first film (it was a made for tv movie, like so many great (and mediocre) adaptations of King's works were) and was very gripping. I shan't detail anything of the story, but it was very suspenseful and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was recommended by a friend...I can't believe I had never heard of this movie before.

I enjoyed it, not only due to the presence of Bill Murray and Cate Blanchett, two of my favorites. I loved the writing, and there are some very interesting shots (ie, from inside a helicopter while it crashes, and subsequent shots). Cemetary Junction. It's a movie by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, both who I like, but I didn't like this movie. It wasn't very funny, which I was expecting with these two guys behind the wheel, and I just didn't care what happened.

Baman: Under the Red Hood. A good cartoon. I usually like anything involving Batman, and this one didn't disappoint. Not as good as Mask of the Phantasm, and I wished they'd used Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, but the voice actors were decent.

The Host. A monster flick similar to Cloverfield but without the shaking handheld camera. Decent CGI for a movie that cost around 10 million to make. The first time you see the monster it's pretty startling--daylight, in a crowd of people. Unfortunately, the film gets slow after the stellar start, turns into something like District 9, the main character infected and being treated by corrupt government agents. Overall a good movie though, and I recommend it to anyone itching for a monster flick. It is Korean and has subtitles, so be warned if that's not your thing.

I have read some really awful reviews for this....it must have really earned them...sadly ( glad I didn't go see it)

The Karate kid, the new one. I recommend it. Good sense of humor. Plus Jackie Chan is awesome. And the Twelve year old bad kid scares me. He could probably kick the crap out of me.

Nightmare On Elm Street. Another bad remake. Bad acting along with good special effects just makes for more of a comedy than a horror film. Too many remakes these days. Where is the originality?

There is none, at least not in the minds of studio executives. Maybe there is one or two who know a good script when they see it, But that is it. Good directors have to fight studio heads who want to feel like all the money they make is because of them, but it isn't, it is because the good directors know how to sidestep mediocrity. They fight and they fight until the exec's give up.

Other than that, most bad movies come from contracted writers that pump out scripts at 90 miles an hour. They hire directors that know how to point a camera, that's it, just point, collect paycheck, kiss executive butt, go home, start new movie tomorrow, the sixth remake of Ben Hur with explosions and spaceships, The manchurian candidate with Jackie chan. Don't forget we also need ten more bad starwars movies, poor lucas. Then they have an original movie that an executive came up with about a guy who kills campers with an ax when they answer their twitter messages. Boy oh boy, the mediocrity is thick. But it is not the executives fault, at least not all of it. People like explosions, so they sell explosions, and people like ax murdering text messaging malcontents with masks. As long as they pay, the movies will play.

Thank god for wes anderson!

Just saw Megamind in 3D this weekend. Pretty funny -- not the best animated flick I've ever seen, but funny. Before that, X - the Man with the X-Ray Eyes, one of my fave classic films.

No worries, you aren't missing much. When the clay-mation 70's? version is waaay better, you know you should probably skip it. :cool2:

I just watched Due Date...loved it. My favorite part is when the character is going to empty his father's ashes in the Grand Canyon and he starts off by saying "Daddy, you were like a father to me...." So stupid but I laughed really loud.

I thought it was grim. An unpleasant man and an idiot upsetting each other in incredibly unbelievable ways for 90 minutes. Not my idea of fun.

I FINALLY watched Avatar last nite. It was so good. I would have loved to have seen it in the theater. I resisted watching it at home because people said it wasn't worth watching without the 3D. I found it to be a very worthwhile movie with a very timely message.

I watched two movies last weekend. The first one was Shrek Forever. It's was actually the second time I saw it, the first one was in the cinema, so I decided to watch it again. It's just great, it's maybe the best part of this cartoon.
And the second movie I watched was Lost in Translation. I was not able even to watch it till the end, it was simply boring for me...

Cold Prey. It's a Norwegian slasher film (original title - Fritt Vilt) and to be honest I think it's absolutely terrible. But I've watched it three times now, just because it's my friend's film and I adore the memories it brings along. It's not been dubbed - you have to read subtitles, so thanks to that film I now know you can say "svit" (spelling?) instead of "it smells burnt". Plus hearing someone with a Norwegian accent saying "super glue" is a joy to the ears

Right now I am watching a Mockumentary called "Bob Roberts," with Tim Robbins. He plays the anti Bob Dylan, running for US Senator. He is very much like Sara Palin. Bob Roberts is up to all kinds of weird stuff. He plays guitar, (parodies of Dylan tunes), He is a republican cokehead killer, scoundrel, cheat, and rable rouser. It is ten or fifteen years old, but it seems like it would be relevent in todays times!

Watched "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" last weekend. Loved it, can't wait for the finale next summer.
Some "scary" moments in it, good to see the story getting darker as the children mature.
Really wish I had read these books as they were released...but at least now the ending will be a total surprise to me.
